Difference Between Venomous and Poisonous

Many people don’t know the difference between a venomous and poisonous snake. There is however, a difference between these two types of snakes. Both venomous and poisonous animals produce toxins that are injurious and sometimes highly lethal to other living creatures. The difference between the two terms lies in how the snake intoxicates its victim. Venomous snakes deliver their toxins by using a type of mechanism, like his fangs. Connected to this mechanism is the gland producing the venom. Poisonous snakes on the other hand, deliver their poison in an indirect manner by, for example, spitting on threatening predators. These snakes’ chemicals have the power to cause vomiting, blistering, cardiac arrest and potentially death.
